WHAT WE DO
Area of focus Where we serve Who we work with
We supply smallholder farmers with everything they need to grow their way out of poverty.
Area of focus
We are committed to the power of agriculture to sustain communities and impact the future. Our focus is dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers in areas crucial for their success.
We are a newly established NGO dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers on their journey out of poverty. Initially, our focus will be on simple but effective interventions such as providing access to high-quality seeds, sustainable fertilizers, and basic training on agricultural best practices. These efforts are designed to significantly enhance the livelihoods of farmers, particularly women, enabling them to feed their families and communities while improving their overall income and nutrition.
We plan to operate in Tamale, an underserved rural area in Northern Ghana, aiming to ensure that families have the tools they need to succeed. We are exploring innovative, cost-effective solutions to enhance the quality of life for these farmers and their communities.
We are also committed to sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience. Our long-term goal includes initiatives like tree planting to promote climate-smart farming practices, with hopes to make a significant environmental impact as we grow.
Farm Supplies
What farmers needs :
Improved farm productivity starts with better agricultural supplies, including high-quality seeds and the right soil nutrients.
What we plan to do :
In our work, we supply farmers with the best seeds suited to their local weather conditions. We carefully select and trial new seed varieties to ensure they yield well and can withstand tough weather, pests, and diseases.
Training
What farmer needs :
Success in farming relies not only on quality supplies but also on effective techniques. Farmers need the right skills to increase their crop yields and maintain healthy soil.
What we plan to do :
Our team of field officers delivers specialized, ongoing training to farmers. This training covers a range of topics, including land preparation, planting methods such as seed spacing and fertilizer microdosing, weeding, applying top-dress fertilizer, managing pests and diseases, harvesting, drying, storing and processing crops, making compost, and planting trees.
Our engagement with farmers extends beyond a single growing season. Our training focuses on long-term behavioral changes essential for improving soil health and enhancing climate resilience.
Finances
What farmers needs :
In addition to good quality products and training, smallholder farmers often need access to financial services, insurance, and other support to help them invest confidently in their future.
What we plan to do :
We plan to offer a suite of services designed to help farmers maximize their harvests, shield them from catastrophic events, and enhance their profitability.
Our services will include providing the necessary financing to get started, which involves the direct procurement and delivery of farm inputs on credit ; about $75 per farmer annually.
Although we have not yet started, our vision is to become one of the significant providers of farm input insurance for smallholders.
This insurance aims to mitigate the risks of extreme weather by potentially offering partial loan forgiveness as a safety net against financial losses. Such insurance would also empower farmers to adopt new farming techniques and try innovative planting methods without fear.
